History
Jokes relating to deez nuts and bofa deez nuts have been told for many years.
The hip hop artist Dr Dre recorded a track called “Deeez Nuuuts”, which featured on his debut studio album, The Chronic. It was released on December 15, 1992, having been recorded in June 1992 at Death Row Studios in Los Angeles.
The track’s intro includes a deez nuts skit between the rapper Warren G and a woman, which went as follows:

Toward the end of 2014, the bofa deez nuts joke started to gain popularity and it went viral in 2015.
The first high profile casualty of this meme was the renowned evolutionary biologist and author, Richard Dawkins.
On March 20, 2015, WelvenDaGreat posted a video clip on Instagram, which shows him telling a joke that deez nuts arrived in the mail.
This clip was uploaded on to YouTube on March 24, 2015, and has since had over 30 millions views.
In July 2015, an independent named Deez Nuts filed a Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission to run in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
By mid-August 2015, Public Policy Polling showed him to be polling at 8-9% in Iowa, Minnesota and North Carolina. This generated a lot of media attention for the candidate, as well as endorsements from hip hop artists Warren G and Ice T.
On August 19, 2015, it was revealed that Deez Nuts was 15-year old Brady C. Olson of Wallingford, Iowa. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, he said that he created the practical joke “half-trying to break the two-party system, half-frustration with the front-runners.”
The authorities didn’t see the funny side of it though, and in August 2016, the Federal Election Commission announced its intent to punish future satirical candidates for president for submitting false filings with a federal agency.
In a bizarre news story in May 2016, an ISIS fighter was captured in Syria wearing a long sleeve top prominently displaying Deez Nuts, the name of an Australian punk band.
